ILRT
The ILRT is a critical path evolution required at all US design nuclear power plants. All US Plants have adopted 10CFR50 Appendix J Option B and need only perform this test at ten to 15 year intervals. The costly nature of the test (it still costs between $1.5-2.5 million dollars to perform due largely to replacement power costs), combined with its complexities and the fact that it is performed very infrequently, has led most utilities in the U.S. to seek expert help in supporting the tests. Driven by the trend to shorter outages with complex work schedules, industry trends have turned from plant owned and maintained test equipment and software to rental of complete test packages.
